How to deal with the worst mother in law on the face of the Earth?

I am newly married and live in CA with my husband we came to Sri Lanka to visit his parents for 6 months. I am on my 3rd month. My mother in law acts sooo nice to him ( speaks very LITTLE English) and let me just say I can't take it anymore no one but me notices the little horrible things she does causing me and my husband to have fights. And their family truly believes in psychics and reading the stars so seriously that they told my husband it was a "bad time" for my husband to work since something bad might happen. And now he's not allowed to do anything! Eat meat, go out past sunset, work, see certain people, and now we can't have the mirror facing the bed! And my mother in law is truly infuriating. Always telling me to change my clothes because they are "inappropriate" and once she bought me a summer dress FROM Sri Lanka! And when I wore it she told me it looked inappropriate on me!!! I was like BUT YOU PICKED IT!!! And EVERYTIME I am talking to my husband she interupts and makes sure I can talk. Or I'll be walking next to him and she come RIGHT in the middle of us! And she even told him we should get rid of my cat (I've had him since I was 6 years old!!! im 21 now) because cats make people sick or some crap like that!!!!
